Cookie Policy

Last updated: 1 September 2026

This page lists the cookies and similar technologies used on handylay.app and explains how to control them. It complements the Privacy Policy, which describes how data is handled more generally.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser so it can recognise your browser on a later request. Related technologies - local storage and pixels - work differently but serve similar purposes, so they are covered here too.

Strictly necessary

These are needed for the site to work the way you expect, and they are set without asking for consent.

  • preferredLanguage - remembers the interface language you selected, so the site does not switch back on your next visit. Set by us, expires after one year.
  • Consent record - stores the choices you made in the consent banner so that you are not asked again on every page. Set by our consent management platform.

Advertising cookies

Google AdSense and its partners set cookies to select which ads to show, to limit how often you see the same ad, and to measure whether an ad led to a visit.

With your consent these ads are personalised using your browsing history. Without consent you see non-personalised ads, which still require a limited set of cookies for frequency capping and fraud prevention. Blocking advertising cookies does not remove the ads - it only makes them less relevant.

Analytics

Cloudflare Web Analytics measures how many people open each page. It works without cookies and without building a fingerprint of your device, so it cannot be used to recognise you across sites. Because it stores nothing on your device, it runs without asking for consent.

Embedded content

The tutorial video on the home page is embedded from YouTube. As soon as the player loads, YouTube and Google may set their own cookies, governed by Google's privacy policy rather than by ours.

Data kept in local storage

Your projects, custom textures and custom patterns are stored in your browser's local storage, not in cookies. They are never transmitted to us or to anyone else, and clearing site data deletes them permanently.

How to change or withdraw consent

  • Open the cookie settings link in the consent banner and change your choices - this takes effect immediately.
  • Clear site data for handylay.app in your browser to delete every cookie and reset the banner.
  • Turn off personalised Google advertising for your Google account at adssettings.google.com.
  • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings; every major browser lets you do this per site.
